According to legend, Mesopotamians were the first to discover the widely consumed beverage "beer" some ten thousand years ago. When they tried to keep grains for their bread during the time of the invention, the wetness of their storage spaces led to grain fermentation. When a few Mesopotamians were bold enough to try the beverage, "beer" was created.

Coca-cola was created in Atlanta by American chemist John Stith Pemberton in 1886. Pemberton had an injury during the Battle of Columbus, which caused him to develop a morphine addiction. Pemberton conducted research and experiments on painkillers that could treat his addiction without the use of drugs. He eventually succeeded in making syrup from coca leaves and coca wines following multiple tries. He gave the syrup the name Pemberton's French wine Coca, but due to the prohibition on alcohol, a non-alcoholic version of the wine was eventually created and given the name COCA-COLA.
