The classic Disney tale "Mulan" is all ready to conquer the box office in 2020. The trailer gets released in March 2020, which has already started to win a place in people's hearts.

The remake will tell the tale of a princess who takes the place of her ailing father in the Chinese Army by disguising herself as a man.

The upcoming live-action movie has similar aspects with its original film, but some parts are the retelling of the story. You can see them in the trailer, but it may have gone unnoticed because of the quick scene changes in the trailer. The following are the ten things you must know about the remake.

1. The Battle at the Mountain Pass

The scene in the trailer of the battle is recreated for the upcoming movie, of course, with high technology of CGI and different film making techniques. The best part of the movie is that the scene of Mulan triggering the avalanche is also a re-creation to give it a realistic touch.

Also, the Northern invaders use conventional weapons such as infantry and catapults, instead of the big army riding on the horses. You can expect to see thrilling scenes in the battle with its action and little detail than its animated counterpart.

2. The Final Battle

In the original film, the princess saves the china's Emperor by penetrating the celebration at the royal palace. The skirmish is a combination of deadly duels and hijinks. However, it ends with the killing of Shan Yu by fireworks.

This sensational fight is also part of the remake but with some new touch. You can see at the end of the trailer that Mulan is chasing an enemy falcon, by running on the roofs. This scene gives us a sense of something different from the original scene. Also, the new villain, played by Gong Li, offers a new track to the story.

3. The New Huns

The actual inimical force of Mulan was the invading Hun army, which was lead by the leader "Shan Yu." Because of their significant number and brutality, the Hun army almost makes it to the capital, but Mulan defeats them in battle.

The most hated character of Huns returns in the remake, although in a different way. In the trailer, you can see a glimpse of the army referred to as "Northern invaders," which is lead by the Bori Khan. Another role is of the army's pet falcon, which is a woman disguised in falcon.

4. The Matchmakers

The original movie shoes the Mulan rejection of the traditional tales of both genders. Also, the patriarchal system displayed in the story where Matchmakers have a job to groom young women into beautiful and perfect wives.

The matchmakers are also present in the remake, and they are irritable the same as before. The trailer shows the requirements which matchmakers want in a good bride, which Mulan refuses throughout the movie and then disguises herself to fight against the invaders.

5. Khan the Horse

The original movie Mulan shows animals like the other Disney movies. One of them is Khan, Mulan's loyal stallion that only Mushu (the dragon) can understand.

The trailer shows that Mulan is riding on the horse, which is black and has the same white streak as Khan had. This horse gives us the sense that we would be able to see Mulan's horse again.

6. Yoson An as Chen Honghui

According to the synopsis of the movie, it will have a new romantic story. This time, Mulan will have an interest in her fellow rival and recruit "Chen Honghui."

There are no trades that she will fall in love with the commanding officer, and this is a significant shift from the original movie and concerned some people about the side story of Mulan's love life.

7. Liu Yifei as Hua Mulan

The upcoming movie cast Liu Yifei as Milan, and she is new for some people. She was New Four Dan Actresses in China in 2009. She is new to the field and has experience in historical fantasies and romantic movies. Another reason for her popularity is her martial art skills. However, Mulan is her best and most prominent role up till now. She is also known for her exceptional performance in The Forbidden Kingdom.

8. Niki Caro's First Blockbuster

No movie can touch the sky of success without the director's wisdom and technique. The same goes for this remake. Niki Caro is the director of the movie, known for the award-winning movie Whale Rider and The Zookeeper's Wife. Caro is expected to mark her entry and will become one of the best directors of 2020.

You can see in the trailer the large beautiful landscapes, on which there are some thrilling scenes. It would help if you kept mind that Cairo is the fifth female filmmaker in the world to shoot a large scale movie with a massive budget of more than $100 million.

9. Disney's First Wuxia Epic

One of the big changes in the movie is the tone, which you will feel more serious than the original one. The reason behind it is that the Mulan changed its genre to go for a Wuxia epic. "Wuxia" means "martial heroes", which is a genre of fiction, and it focuses on Chinese martial arts. And this is because you may see Mulan differently. However, Disney promises about the old soundtrack, that it will return in the movie.

10. The Legend of Hua Mulan

Another reason that the remake has a serious tone is that filmmakers want to make it with the actual source of the story instead of its animated story. The filmmakers made this movie by keeping in mind the original Hua Mulan.

The story is the same, but it did not have fantasy elements, and the story revolves around Mulan's 12 years of life. By considering the movie, Disney is hoping to make a profit in the Chinese market.

You can enjoy your childhood tale in the upcoming month. The movie's release date is March 27, 2020.
