Harry Potter is arguably one of the most cherished movie franchises to have hit our screens. From intense battle scenes to enchanting spells we wish we could learn, Harry potter worn the hearts of many both in literature and on-screen. Since Harry Potter is a film about the battle between good and evil, we decided to look at some of the movie's characters and rank them from the worst to the best.

11. Lord Voldemort

If, by any chance, we were to pick somebody else as the worst Harry Potter character other than Lord Voldemort, we honestly believe Lord Voldemort himself would be deeply offended. By his looks, Voldemort looks like the typical bad guy. The Harry Potter films revolve around the theme of love as the most powerful magic of all. The fact that Voldemort has the inability to love makes him the evilest character in the franchise.

10. Dolores Jane Umbridge

Dolores is the real psychopath in the Harry Potter franchise, with some people claiming Dolores to be as evil as Voldemort. Dolores earns her evil tag because she tortured innocent kids and went as far as causing actual bodily harm. Her evil smile and high-pitched tone of voice make for an unbearable character, which cements her place as one of the film's worst characters.

9. Draco Malfoy

Having Malfoy as an evil person might seem like a bit of a stretch, but he never did have a good side to warrant him a place on the good side of the curve. Draco was brought up by two dark wizards who instilled in him all the wicked values he highlights in the film. However, being raised on the wrong morals is not a good enough excuse to justify his evil motives. In the end, Malfoy proves to be weak since evil wizards are always using him to do their bidding.

8. Peter Pettigrew

Peter is one of the most hated characters in the entire franchise simply because of his cowardice. The thing that stands out about Peter is that his loyalty is usually all over the place, and he'll say anything to anyone as long as he stays alive. His loyalty aside, Peter is known to have got James and Lily Potter killed, thereby making him a villain from day one.

7. Severus Snape

Severus Snape is one of the franchise characters who did a lot of good and evil in almost equal measure. In the First Wizarding War, he was a feared Death Eater but changed his ways in the second Wizarding war when he became a deeply cherished hero. But it must be remembered that Snape only changed his ways when his evil deeds lead to his best friend's death. Even though Snape does eventually end up doing the right thing, his motives were not as sincere as the rest of the good characters.

6. Albus Dumbledore

It's evident that placing Professor Dumbledore on either side of the good and bad curve is a problem for most people and not just us. Dumbledore is obviously a potent wizard, and he's usually a voice of reason when things get tricky. However, he really doesn't like sharing his ideas, and most of the time, fans often feel like a lot of things could be solved if only the professor would stop keeping people in the dark.

5. Hermoine Granger

Hermoine is arguably the true definition of a ride-or-die friend. From day one, Hermoine is always there for her friends, and most fans believe that she is the sweetest and most compassionate character in the series. Although she is the one true friend everyone desires, Hermoine also has a dark side since she'll go to extreme lengths to win the Wizarding war.

4. Ron Weasley

Ron and Harry became instant friends from the word go, and as the series progressed, they became more of brothers than friends. It comes as little surprise that Ron would go into battle alongside Harry and even die if it meant Harry would live. However, Ron often let his feelings get the best of him and sometimes took a lot of time before doing the right things.

3. Harry Potter

As the lead character in the series, Harry Potter undoubtedly has his fair share of flaws, but he is a much better human being than almost all the other characters in the franchise. Harry proved his bravery when he found out that he was destined to fight in a war that could ultimately lead to his death. Instead of running away from his destiny like most of us would, he took up the challenge and was up for learning all he could in the fight against evil.

2. Neville Longbottom

While our pick for number one might be the sweetest man in the series, Neville undoubtedly earned his place on the podium. By his actions, Neville ultimately showed the character expected from a true Gryffindor, which eventually earns him the Gryffindor sword. Fans consider him a darling because of his kind nature and his willingness to defend everyone until the very end.

1.Rubeus Hagrid

Hagrid is the one favorite uncle everybody wishes they had. Fans are usually curious about what led to Hagrid's dismissal from Hogwarts since, throughout the series, Hagrid is always the good guy. Hagrid is the true embodiment of a gentle giant, and his passion for his craft, compounded by his love for everyone and everything, makes him the best character in the Harry Potter series.
