Joe Goldberg has returned for vengeance along with having a new obsession in YOU season 4 and the serial killer will be stalking on an international level this season.

Added to the joyful news? Penn Badgley will play more than one role in You Season 4. As well, he will oversee the season. “We hired a new director this season. But he seems to know the show really, really well.”, said Show-runner Sera Gamble.

 

Sera Gamble and Leo Richardson's initial draft of episode 1 was posted on February 17 through the YouWriters account. Some have assumed that episode 1 is “Joe Goes to Italy” despite the episode title being obscured.

Netflix revealed that Season 4 will take place in London, despite the fact that the Season 3 end saw Joe skulking around Parisian cafés looking for Marienne. Production has officially started as of April 1.

 

Some of the confirmed locations where filming was done included, University of London when Penn Badgley was seen roaming around the campus.

Season four of YOU will be released on Netflix in two parts, with the first part coming out on February 10 and the second part, a month later, on March 10.

Joe Goldberg has trouble adjusting to the whole suburban fatherhood routine. And then there's Natalie (Michaela McManus), the new neighbour. A beautiful reader, married to a rich IT entrepreneur. Joe is certain that Love is not the right lady for him, so Natalie proposes a seductive alternative. She is now, of course, another one of his “You’s”.

 

Love doesn't care for Madre Linda. Sherry Conrad, a momfluencer, introduces Love to her group of terrible friends. Joe characterises Sherry as having Peach-levels of condescension, which doesn't bode well for her survival.

After Joe turns down Natalie’s advances for the sake of his family, but he obviously still steals her knickers from her bedroom for memorabilia purposes, as one does.

 

Unfortunately for Natalie, love comes across Joe’s fresh collection of her undies along with her picture. Love later kills Natalie, of course.

 

Joe helps Love hide Natalie’s body and places her ring on a gas station bathroom sink to make people think she ran away but a search party has already been assembled to look for her. After Sherry Conrad spills that it was in fact Love who was the last person to see Natalie.

Matthew starts to get suspicious of Joe and Love, and they decide to wipe out his security camera so as to not get caught. All while this happens, Love starts an affair with Matthew’s son Theo, after killing his stepmother, which is honestly so romantic.

Matthew is getting closer to the truth so Joe decides to frame Natalies husband Matthew for her murder and sneaks in to his home to plant a scarf stained with Natalie’s blood but passes out due to getting measles from his son Henry.

 

Matthew finds him passed out and decides to help him. This makes Joe have a change of heart after realising Matthew is a good enough guy to spare and he burns the scarf so as to not frame him.

Joe and Love both after admission of cheating decide to get counselling (because that’ll work) and they also take a ‘swing’ at opening their marriage.

 

They plan a foursome with the Conrad’s, but Love flips out at Joe as it’s happening, and they both get into an argument downstairs. Love admits to killing in the name of love, and the Conrad’s hear everything. Joe throws them both into his infamous basement cage.

Theo later comes to the bakery to tell love what he’s found on Matthews computer and hears a gunshot and decides to go downstairs in the basement to look. There he finds the Conrad’s in the cage. After a lot of persuasion, Theo goes upstairs to look for the key for the cage and finds Love there instead.

 

In fear of what he might have seen, Love tells him to leave town and hits him in the back of the head with a fire extinguisher while he’s about to leave and throws him down the basement stairs.

Joe, while getting rid of Theo’s body, realises that he is still alive and sends him to the hospital after feeling bad for him.

Joe visits the library and there he meets Marienne, his new ‘You’. After getting to know her and her story of how her Ex husband took their daughter over a mistake and is now moving away with her. He kills her Ex husband for her so she can take back her daughter from him.

Gil visits the bakery to apologise and admit to love that it’s was in fact his daughter who transferred the measles on to her son. This infuriates Love and she his him with a rolling pin as soon as he turns around, and throws him in the cage. He later hangs himself to death in the cage.

At home, Love finds Joe’s bloody t-shirt and puts two and two together after seeing news about Ryan’s death on tv. She realises he killed him for the sake of Marienne.

 

Later at dinner, when Love asks him if he killed him for Marienne, his silence is the conformation she needs.

 

He then spits out that dreaded line, ‘Love, I want a divorce.’

 

Henry starts crying and Love gets up to check up him. Joe grabs that knife and falls to the floor after getting paralysed. Love had dosed the knife with aconite, which is the same paralytic toxin she used to kill her ex-husband.

He then cuts part of his toe and puts it in a pie to fake his death before burning the house down with love in it. He then leaves Henry on Dante and Lansing's doorstep for him to have a better future, Thank God, honestly. He frames Gil for Natalie’s murder and leaves Madre Linda for good.

Who will be in Season 4?

 

Following Joe's decision to leave Madre Linda, a number of new characters have joined the cast for Season 4. Naturally, Badgley will reprise his role as Joe Goldberg, and Tati Gabrielle's return as Marienne Bellamy has been confirmed.

 

Charlotte Ritchie (Ghosts) is one of the new cast members. She plays Kate, who will become Joe's latest obsession despite her initial dislike of him. She might also know about his sinister secrets.
