It is easy to panic whilst living in a global pandemic, but this will only increase your negative feelings about the situation. When there is nothing you can do but follow the instructions of the government – for everyone’s sake, follow the instructions of the government!!! – just do your best to remain calm and focus on the situations that you can control. Keep your family at home as much as possible and limit your contact with the outside world.

It is essential to stay up to date with the information being provided to the world, as it is changing by the hour. There are many valid news sources, such as the World Health Organization or your own countries’ governmental sites and press conferences but be very vary when it comes to social media and other news outlets. These unverified news sources can spread information that is not factual and create mass panic where it is not needed.

We understand that in order to follow the social distancing rules put in place by the government, you want to stay away from the grocery store as much as possible. While this is completely understandable, that does not give anyone the right to stockpile essential items, so the rest of the community suffers as a result. The world has not shut down completely and production is ongoing, so you will not miss out by limiting your purchases!

If academics is not your thing, why not do something you’ve always wanted to do, like learning to draw or play an instrument or braid hair?
